Practical guide

Keep the context
with the record.

A coherent chronology starts with preserving what you already have.

Preserve originals

Keep original message exports, emails with headers, receipts and account statements where available. Screenshots can help, but they may omit dates, addresses or surrounding messages. Work from copies and retain the original files.

Record exact identities

Write down the complete platform URL, social profile, email address and other identifiers used in the interaction. A similar name can refer to a different entity. Do not replace an incomplete address with a guessed domain.

Build a chronology

List the dates of first contact, payment requests, transfers, withdrawal requests and replies. Distinguish your recollection from records that document an event. Note the timezone where it matters.

Keep payment references

Record the payment method, amount, currency and transaction reference from the original record. For a blockchain transfer, keep the network and transaction ID rather than assuming an address alone explains the payment.

Share deliberately

Use the contact questionnaire to describe the incident, payment methods and relevant records. You can select multiple answers and add Other details. Never include wallet secrets, passwords or full card details.
